Welcome

Welcome to Terrence McDonough's web page.

I have long been active on the left in the United States and Ireland. This website is mostly about my published work in both academic and popular forums. I have been primarily interested in Marxist approaches to stages in capitalist history, working in the context of the Social Structure of Accumulation (SSA) approach. I have also done work on Irish history and contemporary Irish issues. I have a continuing interest in economics education for labour and community groups.

I have a PhD in economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and am currently Professor of Economics at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Before joining NUI Galway in 1995, other appointments were at the Institute for Industry Studies, New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University, at Canisius College, Buffalo, and at Dublin City University. I am a founder of NUI Galway's Master's Degree in Public Advocacy and Activism.
